How does solar work?
A home solar system generates electricity from sunlight. Although they may look complicated, solar panels have very few moving parts and require little or no maintenance. They make no noise and no pollution – just clean, reliable solar electricity directly from the sun.
A home solar system is comprised of solar panels, a solar racking system to hold the solar panels on your roof, electrical wiring, and an solar DC/AC power inverter. Solar panels are mounted on your roof and wired together. During daylight hours they generate DC solar electricity and send it to the power inverter where it is converted into AC power and then flows into your home to be used by your appliances.
When you install a residential solar system, your utility monitors how much power you use. If your solar system generates more electricity than you need, your system will send the extra power to your utility, crediting you for the solar power you created but didn’t use. If you use more power than you generate (like at night, for example) you draw power from your utility as usual. Your utility will bill you based on your overall electricity consumption, automatically factoring in your solar production. This is net metering.
Home Solar Systems help you take control of rising electricity costs
When you solar power your home you are individually harnessing the power of the sun to create electricity for yourself, right where it counts, and doing so puts you in greater control of your electricity costs. Going solar can help protect you from the steady and rising energy rate hikes of your utility company, which usually rise at up to 6% a year.
Home Solar Systems make us more energy secure and more energy independent
Using solar energy reduces our reliance on foreign resources – helping make the USA more energy independent. The US currently imports an increasing percentage of its primary energy needs, increasing our susceptibility to price volatility and shortages. With resource crunches hitting the headlines as well as environmental disasters, generating your own clean solar electricity is one small step towards shifting the world toward a healthier and sustainable renewable energy source.
Home Solar Systems are a good investment both financially and emotionally
State tax credits of up to $2,000 together with a 30% Federal Tax Credit enable you to purchase a solar energy system for your home for up to 50% off the price of the total system. For roughly the same amount you would pay for a new car, you can purchase a solar energy system for your home that will ensure you and your family have energy for the next 25+ years and beyond.
Going Solar in your Home is Simple
The first step is simple: sign up for a free solar quote for your home. We will review your property for energy usage, system requirements and best placement. We’ll then discuss with you the various options for your consideration. Should you desire to go Solar; the installation can usually be completed within a few weeks. Then, from that moment on, you will have your own private solar power plant generating free energy for your home for the next 25 years and beyond. You will be good to go.
